Deal with hover in touch events

How to deal with hover on touch screen devices

Links with hover styles on touch devices are a bit of a complication. In short, they don’t really exist on these devices. Creating fancy :hover styles can really add to the browser experience and help simplify your layout, but they simply will not work on a touch device. When a tablet or smartphone user taps your hover-styled link elements, the hover style shortly appears, and immediately the underlying link is followed/activated.

So how do we handle this problem?
translate in drupal 7

Translation in Drupal 7 : How it works?

As we all know that, we were all getting projects and clients across the globe. But doing a multilingual website with each having different set of requirements make the website handling tougher and tougher. Also, building a multilingual web site involves much more than translating content from one language to another. Translation must be done with an awareness of a language's idioms as spoken within a geographic region. But in Drupal we’ve been provided with rich set of core and contrib modules, which supports translation for our website(s).

Drupal 8

Drupal 8 Accelerate

Drupal 8 Accelerate is a grant program designed to eliminate Drupal 8 release blockers. Through the program, a small number of grants have been made that have had a huge impact. The Drupal Association had planned to put $250,000 of community funds towards eliminating the last 50 critical issues between us and release. The Association on it’s part has contributed $62,500 and the Association Board has raised another $62,500 by partnering with 7 outstanding community supporters to “match the match”. The total money raised is close to $222,919.
There are under 15 release blockers standing between us and a Drupal 8 release. It's time to knock out those final issues and get Drupal 8 out into the world. Drupal 8 will set a new standard for ease of use, while offering countless new ways to tailor and deploy your content to the Web. Easily customize data structures, listings, and pages, and take advantage of new capabilities for displaying data on mobile devices, building APIs, and adapting to multilingual needs.

Mariaab along with mysql

Install Mariadb along with Mysql in Centos

MariaDB is a community-developed fork of the MySQL relational database management system intended to remain free under the GNU GPL. You can use the link to know more about MariaDB and  it's features. If you want to try MariaDB without losing MySQL, then here is the tutorial for running MariaDB alongside MySQL.

Let's start with the steps to install Mariadb along with Mysql

install XHProf

How to install XHProf (for Drupal)

XHProf is a hierarchical profiler for PHP. It reports function-level call counts and inclusive and exclusive metrics such as wall (elapsed) time, CPU time and memory usage. A function's profile can be broken down by callers or callees. The raw data collection component is implemented in C as a PHP Zend extension called xhprof. XHProf has a simple HTML based user interface (written in PHP). The browser based UI for viewing profiler results makes it easy to view results or to share results with peers. A callgraph image view is also supported.

menu icons

Drupal : Add an icon to the menu links

We all like decorated items than normal ones. Everyone like to add icon/image to their site's menu links but we need some tricks to add that into our drupal site's menu link. I am going to show you various methods to add an icon/image to the drupal menu links.

1. theme_menu_link() :

It would return html elements for the menu and it's submenu. We can change the menu html elements using this function and this function must be written in our theme's template.php file. In this example, I am going to add icons to the main menu.
